Principal Report

Evan MILLER - Principal

As we wrap up another week, I want to take a moment to acknowledge our students' dedication and commitment during exam week. It has been inspiring to witness their focused approach and determination. Exams can often be perceived as mere evaluations, but they are also powerful learning tools that allow students to reflect on their progress and identify the next steps in their educational journey. I encourage all students to use this experience as an opportunity for growth and self-improvement.

On Monday 29th May, I had the privilege of attending the North East Victoria Region Fire and Rain Concert, and I couldn't be prouder of our Highvale students who represented our school. It was a delightful evening filled with exceptional performances, and I am thrilled to announce that Highvale had the highest number of participants among all the schools involved. With 70 students showcasing their musical talents, this accomplishment reflects the strength and excellence of our music program. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible and dedicated music teachers for their unwavering support and guidance of our students.

In other exciting news, I am delighted to share that Gareth Liu, a Highvale graduate from the class of 2022, has been awarded the Performing Arts Award at the prestigious Victorian Global Learning Awards presentation. The ceremony took place on Thursday, 8th June, and Gareth captivated the audience with his mesmerizing opera performance. The Victorian Global Learning Awards recognize outstanding achievements and contributions by International Students across the state. Gareth's achievement is a testament to his exceptional talent and the solid foundation he received during his time at Highvale. We are immensely proud of Gareth and wish him continued success in his artistic pursuits.

Looking ahead, I would like to remind all VCE students studying a Unit 3/4 subject that the General Achievement Test (GAT) will be held on Thursday, 15th June. This important assessment provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge across a range of subjects. Additionally, I would like to remind families that Friday 16th June, is our designated Assessment and Report Writing day. On this day, no student classes will run as our staff will be focused on preparing comprehensive reports that provide valuable insights into your child's progress and areas of improvement.

For those that are travelling over the long weekend, we wish you are safe trip away and we are looking forward to the final two weeks of term before our mid-year break.
