Lake Keepit Language and Culture Camp

From 15 May - 17 May, 14 Indigenous students went to Lake Keepit for a Language and Culture Camp. There were many different activities that helped students connect to their culture and to the land they were on.

Activities included weaving, language, dancing, artifacts, connection and boomerang throwing. Our students really enjoyed these activities.

We had a very special second night with a corroboree on sunset led by Kayleb and a yarning circle around the fire on a clear night looking up at the stars and hearing Uncle Cecil share Kinship, knowledge and lessons with the students and staff.

Thank you to the Junior AECG: Tom for showing the students artifacts and boomerang throwing, Ruben for teaching Gomeroi language, Kayleb for teaching dancing, Krystal for teaching weaving (twine, baskets and bracelets), Cecil for telling amazing stories and lessons, Connie for teaching connection and a big thank you to all of the staff at Lake Keepit recreational and sports centre.
