Parent Information Night | Positive Relationships by Jade Lewis

Dear Parents and Carers, We warmly invite you to a special Parent-only information night on Monday, 3 November at 6.00pm in The King's Chapel Auditorium, concluding promptly at 7.30pm.
Our guest speaker, Jade Lewis (Master of Criminology), will present practical, research-based strategies to help parents support their teens through common challenges. This session will equip you with tools to build confidence, foster healthy relationships and help keep your child safe in today’s fast-changing digital world.
While the focus is for parents of students in Years 7-12, we are aware that many of the topics are relevant for parents of students in Year 5 and 6; therefore, parents of Year 5 and 6 students are also welcome to attend the presentation.
Topics Covered | Respectful Relationships Presentation
- Upstander, Bystander, Bully
- Respect & Boundaries
- Healthy vs. Unhealthy Relationships
- Influence of Media
- Communication
- Building Self-Worth and Identity
- How to Help a Friend
- How to Ask for Help
- Drug Education
- Risk and Realities around Vaping
In addition to the above topics, the parent sessions will explore:
- How easily teens can be drawn into sexting or sextortion, and the serious legal consequences they may face.
- How to help your teen recognise healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, including in friendships.
- The dangers of deepfake technology and how quickly digital content can spiral out of control.
- Understanding the lifelong consequences of poor decisions made online.
These issues are already affecting young people, with some facing police involvement and court action over the creation, sharing, or possession of intimate images - including photos in which they or others appear in minimal clothing. Often, students find themselves in these situations without fully understanding the laws or the serious risks involved. We want to partner with you in helping our students navigate these realities wisely and safely. We strongly encourage all parents of high school students to attend, as these matters most often affect this age group. Jade will also present age-appropriate sessions to students during the day, tailored by each Head of Year.
For planning purposes, please RSVP by completing the online registration form below.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs Karin Au (Head of Year 11) at karina@tkc.wa.edu.au or Mr Shane Babcock (Head of Primary) at shaneb@tkc.wa.edu.au.
We look forward to seeing you there as we work together to support our young people with wisdom, confidence and resilience.
Warm regards,
Mrs Karin Au
Head of Year 11
