In Reading this week we are continuing to learn about identifying the features of a procedural text.
VOCABULARY
Procedural Text: Instructs someone how to do or make something. For example: recipes, making a shelf, etc.
Features: The individual parts that make up a text. For example: Title, Materials, Steps.
Title: Name of a book, recipe or instructions.
Materials/Ingredients: The things you need to make a recipe or to build something. For example: eggs, milk or nails and a hammer.
Instructions/Steps: The order to complete a recipe or to build. For example: Step 1: Crack the eggs.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Look for Procedural Texts in your home such as;
- Recipe Books
- Instructions
- How to manuals
With your child look for the features in a book of your choice, can you find them all?
- Title
- Materials/Objects
- Instructions/Steps
