Regional Debating Day at TPPS

Last Friday, our four Grade 6 debating teams participated in the Regional Debating Day held at TPPS.  Two other schools competed in the day where each team competed in three debates.  The topic for the first debate was that schools should provide free breakfast to students, while the second debate was that we should ban violent television shows. The final debate was a surprise topic on the day, and it was that school uniforms should be banned.  The students had a fantastic time arguing their points and thinking very quickly on their feet to refute their oppositions’ cases. Our teams performed exceedingly well with two teams going undefeated and one more winning two out of three debates.  We also had multiple best speaker awards with Katara H being named best speaker in all three debates and Caitlin E in two.

Congratulations to our debating team.  You did a magnificent job!

Prep Cultural Explosion Incursion

Prep students took a magic carpet ride across three countries last week, with a Cultural Explosion incursion! Travelling across India, to Italy and finishing in Australia, the Preps experienced dance, music and performances to help us learn about different cultures for our Term 2 Inquiry unit.

It was such a fun morning of activity through dance.

Performing Arts Update

At Templestowe Park the Grade 5 and 6 students are involved in a musical every odd year. They are such an exciting process which enables students to challenge themselves and grow in confidence and pride.  In 2023, we will proudly present ‘The Wizard of Oz’ (Young Performers’ Edition) at the Forest Hill College Theatre - 178/180 Mahoneys Road, Burwood East 3151.

  • Cast A will perform on Tuesday 29th August and
  • Cast B on Wednesday 30th August 2023

Please note that students will perform on both evenings with Cast A and Cast B.

This year we will be having a matinee and evening performance on each day, thus giving students more opportunity to perform on stage and to an audience.

Information and dates about auditions will be provided to students next week at school, with the cast being announced prior to school holidays. We will look forward to commencing rehearsals at the start of Term 3!
