Preschool Report

For Reconciliation Week we have spoken about Australia's history in a way the children could understand. The children were very interested in the AIATSIS map and discussing parts of the country, including the land that we are on today. This has led to us using Google Earth again to see what the land is like around Australia. The children took the yellow person and dropped it into the large map of Australia where we saw red earth, large rocks and green vegetation.

Recently in Preschool we have discussed how the Prime Minister said sorry to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in 2008. We looked up how to say sorry in sign language and found information on the National Museum website. This webpage had a photo of Sydney Harbour with the word 'sorry' in the sky. Some children could read these letters. We discussed what things we could say sorry for at home and in Preschool. Then the children had an opportunity to make Sorry Day flowers.

We look forward to joining in more reconciliation events this week.

Kind regards,
