Hello Lakes families,

What a wonderful start to the school term we have had with all programs and activities in full swing. Term 4 is always a busy term and this year will be no exception with a number of excursions, incursions and activities planned for students across the Primary Campus.

Prep Transition

Please be reminded that the last session of our Pre-Prep program will be next Friday 25th October 2019. Katie and Chris with the support of Lauren have done a wonderful job in ensuring that our future 2020 Preps have a safe, inviting and stimulated start to their journey here at The Lakes.

Please note that every Friday from the 1st November until Friday 22nd November (four in total) our official Prep Transition sessions will commence in our Prep space. Parents are also invited to come along and participate in our parent information sessions across the four weeks with information sessions ranging from home reading, the school’s iPad program, before/after school care to the school nursing programs. Please speak to Karen or Amanda in the office for more information.

If you have not enrolled yet for 2020 please come into the office and speak to us. With only nine weeks of the school year remaining, planning is in full swing to ensure we hit the ground running in 2020 to support, challenge and extend students. Alternatively, if you are leaving The Lakes to attend another school in 2020 and have not spoken to the office yet, please do so.

Reminders for Camps/Excursions/Celebrations

What a busy few weeks we have coming up with a number of camps and excursions happening across the Prep to Four cohorts.

Payments for the upcoming Year 4 Ace High Ranch taking place from Wednesday October 30th - Friday 1st November should now be paid in full. If you have any questions about the camp, please see one of the Year 4 teachers who have been busy planning for the three day camp.

The Year 2 sleepover will take place on Friday 25th October. Payment of $5 is due by today (Friday 18th October) so teachers are able to confirm numbers and purchase items for the night. I know speaking to the Year 2 students, they are excited to see the school after dark!!!

The Year 1 dinner will take place on Tuesday 3rd December 2019 starting at 5:10 pm with pick up at 7:00 pm sharp. Notes have gone out to Year 1 parents with a cost of $2 needed to be paid at the front office.

Night Under The Stars will take place on Tuesday 19th November 2019 on the Primary Campus. Prep to Year Four students participating in the evening celebration are expected to be at school at 5:30 pm with a 6:00 pm start. Families are encouraged to bring picnic rugs or foldable chairs to sit on to enjoy the Night Under the Stars. Notes with further information about what students need to wear on the night have been sent out be sent out to families. What a wonderful night this will be to celebrate our wonderful students and community here at The Lakes.

Please note that Wednesday 4th December will be a Curriculum Day for staff with students not attending school. Staff will be using this day to plan for 2020 with Professional Development happening. School will recommence on Thursday the 5th December.

A reminder to parents using the school car park during drop off and pick up times. Please be vigilant for students walking or riding their bikes. Children can be unpredictable in their behaviours at times so please stick to a speed limit of 5 km per hour when driving through our car park. Please be safe not sorry. It is also important to take note that the Merriang driveway and bus loop is not part of our school and parents are not allowed to be parking or driving into this space. Merriang Leadership have noticed a greater number of Lakes parents attempting to drive in / park in their bus loop space and car park. We ask that you ensure you park on the street, in the Coles precinct or at the football club and enjoy a nice walk together with your child.

Finally, a massive congratulations to staff member Jessica Heatley who recently got married to Clayton over the term holidays. A wonderful occasion for two wonderful people.

Have a great weekend.

Marcus
