ISA Round 6 – 1st XI v Scots All Saints College at Oxford Falls

1st XI 4/225 (Joe Colgan 79 not out, Josh Overton 58, Tyson McCallum 21) defeated Scots All Saints 9-82 (Josh Hooper 5-11).

The 1st XI ended Term 4 with a resounding victory. Batting first in overcast conditions, debutant Josh Overton (1st XI player number 654) and Tyson McCallum put a half century stand. Overton brought up his own fine 50 during a very good third wicket partnership with Joe Colgan. Colgan’s excellent innings was well supported by Liam Chang and Laurence Sheehan as the run-rate accelerated at the back-end of the innings finishing with a solid 4/225.

Logan Nicey’s bowling combined with a good catch by Liam Kinna gave the 1st XI an early wicket. Liam Chang, James Power and Charlie Sharp each took a wicket as the pressure built on the opposition batsmen. However, Josh Hooper was the star with the ball. He moved the ball off the pitch both ways and finished with figures of 5/11 off 7.2 overs in a match winning performance. This was a crucial result for the 1st XI as they break now before the Christian Brothers Cricket Carnival in Brisbane during January.

2020 Queensland Tour. During the holiday period 16 ISA players and four staff will represent the College in the 40th Christian Brothers Cricket Week. SPX Cricket is one of the few EREA schools which can boast attendance at every iteration of this carnival. SPX Cricket are the current Cup holders.
