Leading the way

Celebrating International Women's Day

We're here to help

To Cecil Hills High School, staff, students, parents and wider community -  it is with great pleasure and honour that I, Julina Ngov am able to address you  as the school captain of 2018.

Coming from Kemps Creek Public School, which during my time had less than 130 students in total, it was with great surprise that my own cohort in Year 7 was the same size. Despite my initial mixed feelings of fear and anticipation - it was a seamless transition, with the great help of the staff (especially my year advisers Ms Farah and Mr Hickey) and from existing students of Cecil Hills High School. The sense of inclusion and unity within the school significantly contributed to my positive learning experience and remains an integral part of my schooling as a year 12 student. Cecil Hills High School has provided me with endless opportunities to develop my skills as both a student and leader. After being an SRC member for four years, a peer leader, math tutor and having the opportunity to attend the UBS and University of Sydney’s Young Women’s Leadership Academy in 2017, I am extremely grateful for the role of captaincy and will constantly aim to fulfil this role to my full potential. The school has also provided me with the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities such as debating, drama performances and helping the Special Education classes which have all created such positive experiences that will resonate with me for the rest of my life.

My intentions have always been and will continue to be, to help and represent the school in a way that not only reflects the values instilled in the schooling environment but also enhances Cecil Hills High School's reputation. With the introduction of new students, I will put my utmost effort into making them feel welcome into the Cecil Hills community and will continue to always be approachable and available. I will also encourage students to nominate themselves for leadership roles and will effectively work within the leadership team to improve the wellbeing of all individuals and groups associated with our school.

Despite the tough year ahead with HSC studies, I am excited for the upcoming challenges and I am looking forward to working with my peers, the SRC team and with the guidance from my teachers and staff to overcome future endeavours. With great appreciation, thank you.

Dear Cecil Hills High School, staff, students, parents and community, it is a privilege that I, Jarrod Carluccio can address you as the school captain of Cecil HIlls High School for 2018.

I attended Holy Spirit Primary School in Carnes Hill.  I was the only student who had decided to proceed with their high school transition to Cecil Hills High School. It wasn’t easy, not knowing many students as I entered the “high school world” put me out of my comfort zone but the endless support from the staff and most of all the students of Cecil Hills High School really made what I saw to be a difficult transition into an easy and enjoyable one. The school has provided me with countless opportunities to build leadership and learning skills both in the classroom and on the sporting field. With the backing of the students and teachers I was able to be a part of the SRC for two years and also the house captain for the mighty Chisholm Crocs. I also had a remarkable experience in leadership when I and another senior student were given the opportunity to coach the Under 15’s Bill turner Football Team, along with captaining the opens boys’ football team as well. These learning experiences that I took part in have help build my leadership skills. I am extremely grateful for my role as school captain 2018 and aim to represent and reflect the values and the work ethic that runs through the student body here at Cecil Hills High School.

As a leader of the school and once being in the position of the many new, bright students that have begun a new journey in Cecil Hills High School, I aim to make them feel welcome and comfortable within our school and to be the best role model that I can be.

I look forward to taking on the HSC and also balancing extra-curricular activities such as school sport and being a part of the hard working SRC lead by Miss Sahid and Miss Occhiuto.

With great appreciation, thank you, Cecil Hills High School community.
