Parent online payments

We have a wonderfully supportive parent community and nearly all families pay their school contributions and subject fees on time.  These funds ensure we provide the best opportunities to students and this is reflected in our strong results and positive school atmosphere.  As explained by Lyn Dunn, our School Administrative Manager - Finance, we have launched our new Parent Online Payments (POP) system which now allows parents to pay school contributions, subject fees, excursions and other items online.  The system can be accessed via our website (www.cecilhillshigh.nsw.edu.au) by clicking on “$ Make a payment”.  This provides a link to the Westpac account of the NSW Department of Education where the online payment can be made via VISA or MasterCard.  As with any new system, we will all need to learn how it operates but I am hopeful this will be of assistance to parents.

New staff

I am very pleased to announce that Ms Renee Havas has been appointed to a permanent position at Cecil Hills High School.  She currently teaches English and co-coordinates our debating program and diary program.  Ms Havas is the year adviser for Year 7 (2018) and recently did a stellar job with Mr Morgan Howard in hosting our Year 7 (2018) Information Evening.

She is the co-chair of our primary school links team and news of her appointment to a permanent position at our school was warmly welcomed by the English faculty and her students.  I am excited to work with Ms Havas and I look forward to seeing her continued contributions to our school.

Be our guest

In terms of my introductory quote, we have had a number of school events so far this year and the community has had the opportunity to “be our guest”.  We had a record attendance at our P&C meetings in February, with 31 parents attending.  We had an excellent turnout at our annual Year 12 Recognition Evening and it was fantastic to once again congratulate these high achieves.  We also had a very high turnout for our annual Year 7 Meet the Teacher BBQ which coincided with our new Year 7 (2018) Information Evening: A Taste of Cecil.  Over 250 people attended our information night for prospective parents which demonstrates the strong reputation our school enjoys in the community.  When you “unfold your menu” at Cecil Hills High School, you see highly committed teachers, excellent facilities and strong results.  It was a pleasure to show off our school to our community once again.

P&C Meetings and AGM

Our next P&C meeting for 2017 will be held at 6:30pm on Monday, 6 March 2017.  This will be the Annual General Meeting and nominations will be sought for the positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary.  There will be a repeat session at 9:30am on Thursday, 9 March 2017.

I look forward to continuing to work with the staff, students and parents of Cecil Hills High School, the best school in NSW.
