Calligraphy Competition

Once again, students of Syndal South have been awarded first prize in the JLTAV Calligraphy competition! 

Writing in Japanese involves three types of script; Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. Like beautiful cursive handwriting in English, stroke order and rhythm is very important in writing Japanese well. Using real brushes with black ink is a wonderful way to practice these skills. The practice can have a meditative effect as it requires quiet and concentration. We hope to continue to enter into these competitions in the future!

Environment News

Garden Club has been very busy this term. At the moment we are enjoying some of the fruits of our labour. We have lots of beautiful strawberries to eat as well as broad beans. We have also been planting a range of native plants around the Art room.

NUDE FOOD

Don't forget that nude food isn't just Wednesday, it's every day! We have been seeing lots of rubbish around the school which doesn't look great. Don't forget to use the bin! Or better still, pack nude food to bring to school. Doesn't really take long to do!

GARDEN DESIGN COMPETITION

Grade 5/6s at school are in the running to win a great prize! An amazing outdoor seating could be ours if we get enough votes. Last week students designed an environmentally friendly garden and entered a Facebook competition. We were one of the lucky schools to be short listed. Only 14 schools in Australia are in the running for the prizes.

To enter, get Mum or Dad, or any family and friends to go onto FACEBOOK and like the page - Draffin Street Furniture. Find the picture of the Syndal South Designs and like it to cast your vote. You can also share it, which will help get us more likes.
