Principals Report

Well here we are at the end of Term 1 2022.  After a quite bumpy start I believe that I can say with some commitment that our beautiful young people have settled back into face-to-face learning and on the whole relearned how to socialise and play well with each other. We really have had a great term and it makes me very happy to see our school buses leaving the car park, most days, taking a group of students out to compete, showcase and build on their learning and leadership. We also celebrate being able to welcome parents and community back into the school.

Congratulations to our staff for their great efforts during term 2. We are all quite exhausted but satisfied that we have moved forward, committed to rebuilding our students' learning rigor. It is with sadness and respect that we farewell Deborah-Boileau Little from Guyra Central School. Mrs Deborah Little is taking leave during Term 2 2022 and will transition and make decisions on the next chapter of her life.  Deborah has provided wonderful support to our staff and students and their families over a long time and her presence will be missed greatly within the school.

We tell our students regularly that if you hold high expectations for yourself and others that success will follow. Mr Tim Lloyd models this theory on a daily basis, at Guyra Central School, and he has been rewarded for his efforts. Mr Lloyd has been successful, through merit selection process, and has been appointed as the new Principal, Gilgandra High School commencing Term 2 2022.  Mr Lloyd has dedicated himself to the students, families and staff during his time at our school.  I am not sure if the students and families in Gilgandra High School  realise just how lucky they are to be getting such a wonderful leader at their school.  We thank you and wish you well Tim,  thank you for your generosity during your time with us.

Please have a happy and safe school break. Spend time with friends and family and take the time to read and speak to your children. With my own children spread around the nation and globe I know just how precious it is to embrace and nurture while they are still under your roof. Thanks to everyone within this great community .

Mrs Michelle Nicholson

Proud Principal

A farewell message from Mr Tim Lloyd

On Friday 1st April, I found out that I was successful in gaining the position of Principal at Gilgandra High School commencing next term. I just wanted to say a few words to the Guyra School community - thank you to all of you for making me feel so welcome here at the school. I have really enjoyed working with the students and families at the school and wanted to extend my thanks and appreciation for the opportunity to work with your kids. I also wanted to thank my colleagues at GCS for all of their support and friendship during my time at the school.

I will certainly miss all of you. Thanks and goodbye.
