3/4 V

What a wonderful camp we had and we can't wait to share a bunch of photos, videos and reflections of all the wonderful things we did!  However we are still collating all of the photos, so we will have a special edition newsletter in Week 10, filled with plenty of fun pictures for you to enjoy!

Maths

This fortnight in Maths we have moved onto learning about 2D shapes.  We are learning to classify shapes by their properties and using the correct vocabulary. Students used Geo sticks to create 2D shapes. After some targeted teaching on the key names that shapes can be called, students were asked to place their shapes into the correct hula hoop. e.g. a square can also be a polygon or a quadrilateral. The students have loved using hands on materials to learn about shapes!

Writing

Sizzling Starts!  We have been having so much fun writing Sizzling Starts.  We have even been watching some opening scenes of kids movies to see how Sizzling Starts are used in film as well as in reading and writing.  Here are some picture prompts that we have used to write Sizzling Starts using dialogue and humour.

Education in Faith

Over the past fortnight, we have been exploring different parables through different ways. One way that we explored the parable of the Lost sheep was through freeze frames.

Freeze frames are when you act out a part of the story, however you are completely still. It is almost like when you press pause on a movie. Students needed to think about the key part that was happening in their section of the story and to put it into a frozen scene. I was so impressed with how well they took on the challenge and I can't wait to do it again!
