John XXIII Rowing Club

South West Head of the River – Bunbury Regatta

Our first Regatta of the year has finally arrived. Congratulations to all rowers and our coaches who have now been hard at training in preparation for our curtain raiser event.

All rowers are invited to the Bunbury Rowing Club foreshore where a BBQ breakfast will be cooking away. Thank you to our parent helpers for this. Breakfast will commence at 7:30am.

There will be Rowing Jersey’s at this regatta should you wish to purchase. They are $90.00

Our first race is set to start at 9:00am.  Programs and important information has been emailed to all families. If you have not received this, please email me directly Lorrelle.fortune@cewa.edu.au.

Wishing everyone a safe trip down and a successful regatta for all.

Saturday BBQ

Another fabulous Saturday training for our male rowers. This week, we give big thanks to Bernard and Jonine Cena and Liz Rutherford. It is always so wonderful to have our parents involved with our program and we thank you all for your help.

Head of the River – message from Committee

We hope everyone is looking forward to the Bunbury Regatta! As many of you will know JTC is hosting the IGSSA Head of the River this year on Saturday 25 June. This is an amazing opportunity for our whole rowing community to showcase our fantastic Rowing Club as well as raise a significant amount of funds for the Club. Last year MLC raised $40,000 alone just from merchandise!

We are after volunteers to manage various aspects of the morning. Many hands make light work. If you want to take on one of the roles on your own or with a friend that would be great.

  • Lead BBQ person
  • Lead Café person
  • Lead Raffles person
  • Lead Cake Stall person

It will be fun, not too many meetings and you don't have to do all the work. These roles are more about organising the set-up and logistics for your section of the event before the day to ensure it runs smoothly. On the day it will be all hands on deck for the whole Rowing Club and larger school community.

Kym Desmond has already put in a lot of work in organising the merchandise and Lorrelle will be coordinating the event logistics.

If you could get in touch with Liza or myself if you have any questions or to volunteer for a position before the 1 April. That way we can hit the ground running in Term 2.
