Classroom Reports
Foundation & Year 1
I'm sure all the children have told you by now that we are hatching quail eggs! We are enjoying the PowerPoint presentation Evie's mum has made for us. It has kept us informed on the developing process inside the eggs. We have been counting backwards from 17. This is how many days quail take to hatch. On Wednesday, we will be up to day 11.
In Maths, we have been doing lots of counting, forwards and backwards and learning about what numbers come before and after a given number. At home, you might like to practise counting with your child. Try starting at any number, forward and backwards.

Years 1 & 2
In Literacy some of us have been learning about being persuasive and the difference between fact and opinion.
We have written Mr Forrest a letter to try and persuade him to do something!
In maths we are looking at number patterns and how to work out what the rule is.
We are also practising our counting by twos, threes, fives and tens.
We have been enjoying reading the Treehouse books. Would you love to live in a treehouse with an anti-gravity chamber and a pool of man-eating sharks?!

Year 5/6A
Students in Year 5/6A have been learning about the relationship between a bird’s beak and its ability to find food to survive in a given environment. To explore this, students completed a range of experiments and investigations using various kitchen utensils and food sources. Students quickly discovered that the size and shape of a bird’s beak directly impacted the type of food they could find successfully in the wild. Throughout the investigation students were asked to consider which bird these beaks likely belonged to and why they thought they were shaped in a particular way.
Last week the students began their Chromebook training. They have nearly all returned their Chromebook permission forms and are now ready to begin learning how to use their chrome books effectively. We are excited to start developing student typing skills and incorporate more technology into Year 5/6 mathematics lessons.
This week 5/6A will complete their reading of The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. Throughout this journey we have enjoyed getting to know Roz the Robot and her gosling son, Brightbill. We are all excited to begin the sequel, The Wild Robot Escapes, in Term 2.
