Principal's Message

A Time for Everything

"There is a time for everything,  and a season for every activity under the heavens...
A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance"
- Ecclesiastes 3: 1 and 4

This week is also a time to celebrate and a time to say goodbye. This year we are celebrating 40 years of Bayside Christian College, and for 30 of those years, Trish has been a part of the Bayside family. But just as all seasons come to an end, so has Trish's time at the College. She is officially retiring next Wednesday.

One of the things I have marvelled at is Trish's ability to know each child. She has learned hundreds and hundreds of children's names, and has watched them grow from enrolment to graduation. She makes a point of making each one feel known as they come to the office for various reasons- whether it be for errands or first aid TLC. She remembers their little conversations with her, what they like to do on the weekend, and follows up to ask how they are doing when they have been unwell.

Trish knows which ones come to see her with a "tummy ache" because they just need to be noticed or maybe are coming for a break from the yard. She knows who has a new baby brother or sister. She even knows who has been in trouble with the teachers and who has accomplished something to celebrate. And knowing all this, she still cares for each one as they need when they come.

To me, personally, Trish has been a second mum, and I'm sure this is the same for many staff and students. She reminds me of the love of our heavenly father. He knows each one of us by name, he knows everything about us. He sees the good things and the bad things and he loves us.

As I revisit Ecclesiastes again, I see it tells me

"I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it."
- Ecclesiastes 3: 12-14a

Trish has worked tirelessly and with dedication for many years. I pray that she has found satisfaction in all her work - even though I know it has had days to laugh and days to cry, days to embrace and days to refrain from embracing. Trish has been a pillar of the community, and will be deeply missed. We pray she is able to find joy in this next season of retirement.

Please take the opportunity to say farewell before she finishes her last day on Wednesday.

Save the Date: Gala Dinner

To celebrate the College's 40th Anniversary, we will be hosting a Gala Dinner on Saturday 21 May 2022. Families will receive a formal invitation at the start of Term 2.

Alpha at Bayside 2022

Alpha is a series of nine sessions exploring the Christian faith where we unpack the basics of Christianity. After sharing a light supper together, we will watch a teaching video (usually around 30 minutes long) on the session's topic and then share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group.

There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't say (seriously). It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.

Bayside will be running an Alpha Course for parents commencing the first week of Term 2 Wednesday 27 April. This will be scheduled weekly every Wednesday night, ending on Wednesday 22 June (last week of Term 2). We will begin the evening with finger foods at 6pm and will finish at 8.30pm.

The sessions will be held in the Bayside Family Network Community Room (next to the Uniform Shop on South Campus). For more information about Alpha please visit:
