Year 7 City Camp

All Year 7 students enjoyed the annual city camp travelling around various parts of the city and sleeping over at school. The camp allowed students to spend time with their new classmates and students within their year level.

Some of the reflections from the students :

My favourite things were the on the eureka skydeck, and the lemon chicken at the Chinese restaurant. I enjoyed the MCG and the riverboat boat cruise.

I liked being with my friends. My friends helped by pushing me around. ACMI was cool and the games were good.

This year's city camp was really good. I enjoyed it. We got to go to Fitzroy gardens and then walked all the way to a river boat cruise. We thought the teachers led us the wrong way but I guess they didn’t. The cruise was fun. I took a lot of photos with my friends and I got to sit next to my friend Ash. Then my group went to the gallery first but most of them went to ACMI and others half went to NGV. While my group was there we went to ACMI. The MCG was great and the gallery was fun.

I enjoyed this camp and made sure to make the camp exciting, interesting and filled with lots of engaging places to see and go. My personal favourite part of camp was probably sleeping at school, as it allowed people to grow closer and get to know each other better as well as having a lot of laughs and fun. I also enjoyed going to the ACMI where they had showcases of different games. I found the second day was quite boring but I liked going to the Victoria market and buying lunch overall. This camp was a great opportunity to make new friends and visit different places around this amazing city of Melbourne.

I loved city camp. I made new friends and strengthened the bond with my old ones. We slept at school on Thursday night and headed off to the city the next morning. I loved all the walking and exercise. At school I slept in room 221. That night I felt really sick. Luckily I had my peppermint spray that my mum packed for me.  I ended up falling asleep at about 12:00am and waking up at 6:45am.

On Thursday morning at about 8:45 we started walking to the train station. When we arrived at Jolimont we walked down to the river cruise boat. After the river cruise we headed over to the NGV/ACMI. First my group was chosen to do the Ian Potter NGV thing.  That was great and there was lots of amazing art. Next we went to the eureka skydeck. Finally we walked to the Chinese restaurant and the food there was um…. Ok.

We had breakfast at school then we went to the MCG. The MCG was sooo cool. I loved the sports museum and the interactive sports centre. We went to the vic market. Then we went  back to school and then home.

On the first day of city camp the first thing we did was go to the Fitzroy Gardens. We saw the Tudor village. Then we saw the Captain Cook cottage.

Next we went over to the Yarra river to do a river cruise. We went up the Yarra river towards docklands. And we saw the part. They let us go out the back of the boat so we could get good views of the city.  After the river cruise we had lunch at federation square. After that we went to the lan Potter art gallery and looked at some artworks and we saw 50 clock coins street and other artwork. Next we went to ACMI. It was pretty good.  We got to play games including a basketball game where you spin a ball to move the player.

Then we went to the eureka skydeck. The views were amazing. I could see all the way out to the Dandenongs. And we could also see St Kilda and Albert park lake f1 track. It was the best thing of the day
