Teaching & Learning

NAPLAN 2021
This year NAPLAN testing will go ahead in May. Students in year 3 and 5 will complete their NAPLAN tests using an online platform (with the exception of the year 3 writing test.) NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. At a classroom level, NAPLAN provides additional information to support teachers' professional judgement about student progress. At GGSS we will complete tests from the 11th-19th of May. Please see our schedule below.
For further information or if you wish to withdraw your child please contact the office.

Simultaneous Storytime
Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. 2021 will be the 21st year of the campaign. It is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy. Thank you to all of the supporters of National Simultaneous Storytime 2021 Australian Space Agency, the Office of the Chief Scientist, Science Time From Space, author Philip Bunting, Scholastic Australia, the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa; and our official supporter CleverPatch.
This year the book is 'Give me Some Space' by Philip Bunting. We will read this altogether on 19th May.
