Dear Parents,

Modelled Reading will begin in week 2, term 2 each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning @ 8.30 in the school library. Students read to an older peer for 15 minutes each session and this initiative allows students who need extra reading practice to improve their reading skills. If your child is involved in Modelled Reading either as a student or tutor, please encourage them by dropping them to school on time ready to start reading at 8.30!

This is one of the many Literacy Interventions we offer at SJV. We are fortunate to have a specialist Literacy intervention teacher Julie Walton, and our very own Speech Pathologist Violetta Bassovitch who work across the school to support students with additional learning needs.

Did you know reading to and with your child is one of the most important things you can do for them?

Research shows that reading to your child from an early age gives them a huge advantage all throughout their school years.

We ask all parents to continue to work with the staff at SJV by encouraging your child to read for at least 10-15 minutes per day.

I wish you all a happy and Holy Easter break with your children.

Best wishes,

Leanne Withers (Literacy Leader)
