Excursion to the National Gallery

On Tuesday, 4 May Year 11 & 12 students from Studio Arts & Visual Communication Design travelled to the city to see exhibitions at NVG Ian Potter, NGV International & the newly re-opened ACMI. This excursion gave students an opportunity to see the folios & final presentations of students selected for the prestigious Top Arts exhibition at the NGV and consider the variety of possibilities open to them in creating their own works of Art in Studio Arts.

At ACMI, Visual Communication Design students were able to explore the design process of creating some of Australia's most popular screen-based media. Students inspected the generation of ideas, storyboarding, production drawing, set design, modelling, and more from film, television, and gaming history.

This excursion was a wonderful opportunity for students to develop an understanding of where their art-making in high school can take them, and what opportunities in the arts are open to being explored after they leave Fairhills.

Poster Competition

PLEDGE (People Linking to Embrace & Develop Gender Equality) is coalition of organisations in the City of Knox working to encourage, support and inspire the local community in embracing gender equality and creating awareness and action.

A poster competition was run in the local area by PLEDGE. Fairhills High School had 6 students enter this wonderful competition. Out of the 6 students, we had 2 Finalists, Maria and Clint. An award ceremony was held at Swinburne TAFE on Tuesday May where all students were invited to view the works and present all finalists with a $50 Voucher and Certificate.

Fairhills also received a gift of $500 in the way of a Westfield voucher for our support and the number of participants into this amazing competition.

Ms Power and School Captain Jesse attended the event along with the participants and their families.

We are looking forward to supporting PLEDGE in the future.
