Principal's Update

Paul Clohesy

Dear families,

I hope the start of the term has been a smooth one. It has certainly been great seeing all the students back and making the most of the opportunities they are being presented with.

I made a short visit to Gellibrand last week to visit one of the Year 9 groups doing the Beechy Rail Trail hike. It was great seeing the students working together as they set about preparing their dinner.

I would like to thank the parents for supporting this program, which was designed to push the students out of their comfort zones and give them a practical understanding of Grit, which is a concept covered in the PBL course.

I would also like to thank the staff who gave up the warmth and comfort of home to join the students and provide them with this experiential learning opportunity.

On Monday, May 10 Trinity College is conducting its first Mother/significant female and Child Time and Space evening.

This program is facilitated by staff external to the College and comes highly recommended as being a very special and memorable event.

I would certainly encourage as many of our Year 7 and 8 students and mums to attend. Plans for a future Dad/significant male and Child Evening are taking place.

Our parent/carer community may have noticed that the calendar has or had our Founders’ Day Mass and activities day scheduled for Friday this week. The College made the decision to postpone this event until late in Term 3.

This decision was made to provide more planning time to our student leaders who have some great ideas on how they want this year’s Founders Day to look.

Founders’ Day usually happens in early May to coincide with the feast day of Blessed Edmund Rice, who founded the Christian Brothers and it was the Christian Brothers in partnership with St Mary’s Parish who established Trinity College in 1967.

Founders’ Day recognises the contribution made by the Christian Brothers, the Mercy Sisters and St Mary’s in the history of our school and the students definitely want to ensure the day is special.

Finally, I would like to wish all of our mothers a happy and special Mother’s Day on Sunday. I hope you are well and truly spoilt and thanked for the never-ending, selfless work you do to show your love and support of your children.

Year 7 students Mason Rothery and Marissa Gibbs joined fellow concert band members to entertain our College assembly today. It was the first full assembly in well over a year.
