Senior Years

Year 12 Formal

On Friday 26 March, the class of 2021 celebrated their Senior Formal, which was held at The Pavilion on South Terrace in the city.

The students had hired almost every limousine and hummer in the state to ensure they arrived in style. The convoy of Nissan Skylines was also impressive!

Walking down the red carpet, students felt like celebrities as cameras flashed and parents scrambled to get a look at their glamorous children. Navy blue was definitely the colour of the evening, with many girls wearing beautiful blue gowns, and many boys in navy suits.

The first hour of the event was spent in the beautiful Veale Gardens, where photographers took family photos and drinks and canapes were served. At 7pm, teachers and students entered the Ballroom, which was decorated in the theme of Starry Night. Fairy lights sparkled everywhere, and a PowerPoint presentation of the class of 2021 played, to the delight of the students. The photo wall, created by the Formal Committee, was a highlight as hundreds of photos were taken so that the memories of the night would last forever.

Meals of filet mignon and mediterranean chicken were served, and then Mr Slattery and Miss Falero presented an incredible speech and video, which caused much laughter, as the students reminisced about the last five years.

The Formal Committee presented the student awards, which included Miss Congeniality, Dynamic Duo, The Teddy Bear award and Biggest Gamer, just to name a few. Congratulations to Jacinta Burmeister and Evan Gaye who won the awards for best dressed female and male which was voted for on the night.

Then, it was time for dancing! DJ Ben played a range of hits from both the past and present, which had everyone up on the dance floor. Some students even formed a conga line which was hilarious!

Eleven o’clock seemed to come too soon. The Class of 2021 had a night that they will never forget. A huge thank you to the Formal Committee, Mr Wooldridge and Mrs Ackerley for all of their hard work in planning and organising the event.

Stage1 Biology Excursion

On Monday 29 March, Stage 1 Biology students attended the Port Noarlunga Aquatic Reserve. Students were given the opportunity to analyse and observe the local rocky shore ecosystem and witness the effect human impact has had on its natural state. Students worked in small groups with a local guide and were able to view the natural phenomenon of the area, observe sand and zonal erosion, discuss the outcomes of tidal movements and were even able to snorkel the reef to observe the relationship between organisms and their habitat.

The weather was incredibly kind to us and students were given a unique opportunity to make connections with their curriculum.

Stage 2 Outdoor Education  Camp to Para Wirra

In Week 9, the Stage 2 Outdoor Education class attended the first of three camping expeditions for the year at Para Wirra Conservation Park. Over the 3 days, students bushwalked over 35kms in quite warm and dry conditions.

The students were able to develop basic camping skills, including cooking on a Trangia, with a focus on sustainability and minimal impact camping. Students also developed skills in leadership, teamwork and navigation while on a competitive orienteering course.

Visiting Entrepreneurs: First Things First Coffee

James Carrigg and Aaron Box, co-directors of First Things First Coffee generously gave up their time to speak to the Year 11 Business Innovation students. The Q & A session provided great insight into the challenges and obstacles of starting and operating a successful business. The business world is constantly evolving and James and Aaron shared many stories on how they had to adapt and pivot in order to navigate a dynamic environment.

Listening to the experiences as business owners is an extremely valuable learning opportunity for our students as they can then apply the knowledge that they learn in the classroom. Students will now use this insight in future assessment tasks.

We are so grateful to James and Aaron for making the effort to visit and for providing such an enriching experience for the future entrepreneurs of Endeavour.
