Principals Message

Welcome to the latest edition of The Taqwa Times. We have had a busy start to Term 2 and after five weeks of learning we have seen the completion of our first project. Students in years K to 6 have been learning from the Australian Curriculum content areas of HASS and Visual Arts. Please read your child's associated newsletter page for details, and lots of photos of their fantastic work.
In week three we celebrated the end of the month of Ramadan. It was inspiring to see so many of our senior students exercise their self control and patience to particiapate. Although many of them were very tired and a little cranky, they showed great determination to complete the 30 days of fasting. We will hold our Eid party on the 18th of June which will also be the final day of Term 2.
Students in years 3 and 5 recently completed the NAPLAN testing. For some, it was the very first time that they have been tested. I was very happy with their attitudes and efforts and I look forward to seeing their results. Well done to all of the students for trying their best.
Thank yous and Some Gentle Reminders
Thank you so much for supporting all of the students to wear their full school uniforms. They are looking very smart and representing the Islamic community very well.
Thank you also to all of the parents who accompanied us on our recent excursions. Your help is always welcome and much appreciated.
Please remember that our morning Quran class begins at 8.30am. This is a very important time for your children to become more familiar with the teachings of the Quran and to improve their knowlege of the Arabic language. It is vital that they attend the whole session as it is very difficult to catch up late comers with what they have missed.
When dropping your children to school in the morning please do not park in the area adjasent to the curb. This area is for those who need to use the space to stop and drop, not park. Also please respect the 5km speed limit in this area. We have had some reports of people driving way too fast.
School and bus fees are payable prior to the commencement of each term unless you have a direct debit or payment schedule in place. We are a very low fee paying school and this money is vital to our continued existence. If you requie assistance I am more than happy to meet with you to discuss.
At the end of this week you will receive your child's academic report for Semester One and we will be holding parent/teacher interviews in weeks 8 and 9. More information on how to book will be emailed shortly.
Thanks for reading.
