YEAR 6 INCURSION

THE HISTORY BOX BALLARAT

Barry and Cynda from The History Box in Ballarat, visited Year 6 on Wednesday 21April. They provided a 2 hour presentation/workshop with fascinating history about the ANZACs and the events of WW1 as well as “hands-on” activities that engaged all students.

The Year 6 children were mesmerised by wartime stories and gained more insight into the experiences of our Australian and New Zealand Army Corps through photos, videos and handling artefacts that were over 100 years old!

They used nib pens dipped in ink to copy a letter, made clay medals, and learnt about the games the diggers played to help pass the time in the trenches. Some of these games were Two-up, (Heads & Tails), knuckles and a game which was a bit like noughts and crosses, called Nacka Nacka.

The children even had the opportunity to dress up in authentic uniforms worn by Australian soldiers and nurses.

A great morning had by all!

Beaumaris RSL Service

Genevieve and Saffron M were asked by 1st Beaumaris Sea Scouts to say a verse of a poem at the Beaumaris RSL Community ANZAC commemorative march and service that was held on Sunday 18 Arpil.

Whilst there the girls also saw our School Captains laying a wreath. It is so lovely to see students from BNPS being involved in various ways.
