Principal's Report

Welcome to Term 2

I hope you enjoyed the wonderful Easter weather.

Our students have returned to school looking relaxed and refreshed ready for an exciting Term 2. We are continuing with our “soft” start to school and remind all members of our school community that students must not play in the school ground prior to the school day commencing.  Students are to make their way to their classroom from 8.50am where their class teachers will be waiting for them.

Staff are on duty from 8.45am daily and if students are in the school at this time they will be directed to the door of their classroom where they must wait until the doors open at 8.50am.

I thank families for supporting our current school entry approach, it is having an extremely smooth and productive start to the school day.

Year 6 Students 2021 Anzac Day Ceremony

On Friday afternoon our Year 6 students conducted our 2021 Anzac Day ceremony with their parent and grandparents in attendance.

Everyone in attendance was in awe of their speaking and listening skills and the manner in which they managed the entire afternoon.

The students under the guidance of their teachers managed every aspect of the ceremony including the sale of Anzac Day memorability prior the Friday, escorting guests to their seats as well as ushering every class to their allocated seating areas.

Exemplary Ambassadors at the Beaumaris RSL ANZAC Day

All of the BNPS School Captains and Vice Captains attended the Beaumaris RSL ANZAC day service.

Our School leaders, together with Mr Angus Ross one of the Year 6 teachers, gave up their time during the school holidays to participate in this local weekend event.

The students were included in the march from the Concourse to the Service and sat close to the dignitaries during the assembly.  They did such an amazing job!  The students met the Bayside Mayor and remembered him from when they were in Year 3, when he came and unofficially, officially opened the garden beds in front of the Classrooms.

The students laid a wreath and accepted a donated book which they will present to our school.   They were excellent in representing BNPS and we are all very proud of them and thank them and their families for supporting this special occasion.

Congratulations to Jack Year 5B - A Star In The Making

The Department of Education and Training’s Performing Arts Unit auditioned students from across the state for this year’s Victorian State Schools Spectacular.

Congratulations to Jack S, one of our Year 6 students, who secured a role in this year’s Spectacular core performing company.  Jack is a commendable ambassador for our school and is the first Beaumaris North Primary School student to ever be selected for this amazing event.

The Spectacular will be performed twice on Saturday 11 September at John Cain Arena, followed by a broadcast on Channel 7 and made available on the 7plus catch-up website which will enable all of school community to view.  Rehearsals have commenced for this year’s production which will showcase more than 2500 Victorian government school students in a performance of music, song, dance, skating and puppetry.  Jack will be performing on keyboard, piano and in the orchestra.

We enjoyed a sneak preview of Jacks skills at our final term one Assembly.

School Review

We are currently in the midst of our School Review.  This process in managed by our reviewer Mrs Jane Warren who is appointed by the Department of Education.

We have two Challenge Partners who are Meg Dallas, Principal from Sorrento PS and Ms Debby Chaves, Principal from Beaumaris Secondary College.

Mrs Kristy Hamshare representing the School Council together with Debbie Murnane, Joanne Taylor and myself representing the school.

The main aim of the review is to develop the new strategic Plan for the school moving forward for the coming three years.  Our review was planned for 2020 but due to COVID 19 it was unable to occur.

One very important aspect of this process is hearing from the students and parents who are involved in focus groups.

I would like to sincerely thank every staff member also as they are sharing their classrooms, assessment documentation and planning tools with the panel members to view.

It is wonderful having our planned school incursions and excursions returning to pre-COVID normal.  We look forward to our planned events proceeding in 2021 and sincerely hope that our students can participate in everything planned in our school calendar.
