5 Ways to Wellbeing

Week 5 of Term 2 begins next week and we are almost half-way through the term.  We would like to acknowledge that many of our students, families and staff are experiencing various levels of fatigue at the moment.  For others, the novelty of Distance Learning has worn off and motivation to engage in learning tasks is harder to come by than usual. We want you to know that we are not the only school community feeling this way.  I was on a Webex meeting today with Wellbeing Leaders from the Southern Region and similar experiences are being had across multiple school settings.

We know that when our personal wellbeing is high we are better able to engage with other aspects of life in a healthy and positive way.  As such, the staff of St  Anthony's have decided to focus on Wellbeing next week,   providing a theme for each day.  The Distance Learning Plans (DLPs) that will be sent out on Sunday at 4pm will provide more information for families about the specific tasks each day.

A few key elements for the week are summarised below:

  • Reading/ Writing and Math tasks have been set for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. These tasks will be focused on skills students have already been taught.
  • Wednesday's tasks will focus purely on Wellbeing.
  • Students will be able to choose which wellbeing tasks they engage in each day.  These can be done as a family or individually, depending on what suits each family.
  • Class Google Meets will continue as normal each morning.
  • Teacher's will hold additional wellbeing Google Meet sessions for students to connect with their friends. These are timetabled and will be communicated with you.
  • Intervention sessions will continue as normal.
  • Teachers will be acknowledging submitted learning tasks but no in-depth feedback will be provided to students.

Student Newsletter

If you have not already seen it, our School Captains Sally and Marley have shared an idea about creating a newsletter for students.  I have included their introductory video below for those families that have not had a chance to view it.

Please remember to email your photos or videos to the office@santglen.catholic.edu.au account with the subject line Student Newsletter so that we can collate your submissions.  This is a fantastic way for our children to see how one another are managing at this time.

Wishing all of those people who fulfill a Mothering role for someone a very happy Mother's Day this Sunday.

with best wishes,
