Year 2 Spotlight

So Happy Together!

The Year 2 students are so happy to be back at school!

Students have had a successful transition back into the classroom. It was amazing how quickly they adjusted back into the routine of the school day. They enjoyed seeing their friends, playing in the yard, being the ‘big’ kids of the school (even if it was only for the day!) and learning with their teachers.

The students reflected on their return to classroom learning, specifically, ‘Something I love about being at school is…’

  • “Learning and playing and being able to be outside all the time.” ~ Sully S, 2B
  • “That we don’t have to take a photo of our work and upload it.” ~ Juliet E, 2B
  • “Doing writing and seeing all my friends!” ~ Aurora M 2C
  • “Doing all our subjects like inquiry back in class. I love the experiments!” ~ Elodie B, 2C
  • “Seeing my teacher in real life and not on the screen!” ~ Emi C, 2A
  • “It’s great to be back and playing with all my friends.” ~ Xavier M, 2A
  • “Seeing my friends!” ~ Nicholas B, 2D

Literacy

In Reading and Writing the students have been responding to texts. For example, after reading ‘Mr. Chicken in Australia’, students discussed and wrote about the places that are important to them and the adventures they could have.

Numeracy

In Numeracy the students have been making fractions of objects and collections using natural materials, paper folding and chalk drawings.

Inquiry

In Inquiry the students have been investigating forces. We conducted an experiment to see the effect of air resistance on falling objects.
