Welcome to Term 4. It’s hard to believe it’s the last quarter of the school year. It has been another challenging and unpredictable time for all of us.
Students should be in school. Teachers need to be in classrooms. This pandemic has tipped our lives upside. However, during this time we have strived to provide a high quality remote and learning program. Our goal has been to keep connected, maintain clear communication and celebrate the small things as a school community. We are so excited to have our Year P/1/2 students back at school next week as schools slowly return to normal.
As you know, we did have a COVID case last week in our school. As a result, we have 21 students and 6 staff members currently isolating. I understand that this is a worrying time for all our school community as our students return back to school. However, I will endeavour to follow all DHHS and MACS guidelines to keep our school safe. Once again, together we will get through this.
As a Visible Learning school we understand the value of feedback to bring about improvement. Our students have become experts in responding and acting on teacher feedback, as well as giving warm and cool feedback to each other. They understand and know the power of feedback and how it can bring about change.
During this pandemic, we have regularly sent home surveys to get your responses on how we are going as a school, especially our remote and flexible delivery. This feedback has been invaluable to us to continue to grow and prosper as a learning community.
Another significant and formal way in which gather data and feedback from you is through MACSSIS, the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys.
MACSSIS is a set of surveys that have been built specifically for Catholic schools in Melbourne. This term students in Years 4-6, families and staff are invited to participate in MACSSIS. This week every family should have received an email with an attached letter that contains your steps in completing the survey. It will take you about 20 minutes to complete.
We ask every family to complete this survey. When you have completed it please contact Elise at ecoghlan@smdplaverton.catholic.edu.au as she will put you into a raffle draw to win these great prices:
- $100 Coles Myer voucher
- a day at the Melbourne, Werribee or Healesville Zoo for 2 adults 2 children
- $50 village movie voucher
Your views, thoughts and reflections are important to us as they ensure that we are all on track - together.
Wishing everyone another quiet lockdown weekend. Please recheck the Return to School note from last week, as this clearly outlines protocols and procedures as we return back to school.
God Bless.
