Community Garden and outdoor play Update

Our outdoor learning spaces are complete with our community garden and beloved chickens.

Flourish &  Grow

In the garden we are growing magnificent broccoli. We got these seedlings into the ground in term 2 so they have had most of there growing period over winter when it is too cold for the white cabbage moth therefore we have not had problems with caterpillars.

The red cabbages and cauliflower are coming along nicely.

Our rhubarb was under attack from snails, however a great tip from one of our families was to stretch steel wool around the base.  This has completely solved the snail problem for the rhubarb and now it is growing really well.

Red lettuce, large lettuces and rainbow silverbeet are flourishing as well.

Broad beans that the students planted as seeds in term 2 have taken off.  These are starting to flower and will be producing delicious broad beans when you return.

Some of our beautiful succulent displays (not for eating!)

Now is a good time to be planting tomato seedlings, pumpkin seeds, corn seeds, and lots of other summer fruits and vegetables. If you have any photos you would like to share with me of your vegetables or flowers I would love that. Looking forward to seeing you all back at school soon.
