If any families are moving out of the area and do not require a place for their children at Fatima next year please advise us now to assist with our planning and organisation for our 2022 school year.

If anyone knows of families who have not yet enrolled and are planning to, please advise them to be in contact as soon as possible to be able to participate in any planned transition or orientation activities.

If you need financial support to maintain your child's enrolment due to loss of income during the lockdown please be in touch. You are part of the Fatima family and we are here for you.

Concessional Fee Policy 2022

Please note that in 2022 there are changes to the concessional fee structures to allow for support for families who wish their children to have an education in a Catholic school.

OLOF MACS School fees and charges Policy

OLOF MACS Concessional Fee Policy

1. Eligibility for Concessional School Fees

1.1 The following families are strongly encouraged to apply for concessional school fees: ● Any family of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage.

● Any family holding an Health Care Card and eligible for CSEF.

● Any family experiencing severe financial hardship.

● Any family holding a DVA Gold Card.

● Any family identified as refugees and holding an ImmiCard.

● Home School Students (HSS) who attend a MACS primary school on a part time basis, who meet any of the criteria detailed above.

Concessional School Fees for Eligible Students

3.1 Students of eligible families are entitled to concessional school fees.

3.2 The school fee for eligible students is:

● 1 child – $15 per child per week, direct debit ($780 per annum or $195 per term)

● 2 children – $23 for the family per week, direct debit ($1,196 per annum, or $299 per term)

● 3 + children – $30 for the family per week, direct debit ($1,560 per annum, or ● $390 per term)

3.3 The above fees cover both tuition fees and levies.

All Fatima families and future Fatima families need to know that I am here to listen and support any financial concerns and these are understood on an individual basis.

OLOF School Advisory Council

Although our newly formed OLOF School Advisory Council has not officially met this term due to lockdown, I would like to thank those parents who expressed interest on joining our council. At the earliest convenience, we will meet to organise the structure of our SAC including Chairperson and Secretary and understand role descriptions and protocols of being an SAC member. I welcome the following parents to the OLOF SAC:

These parents will join with myself, Darren Perry and Father John Paul to form the SAC.

The Board of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS) has responsibility for the strategic direction and oversight of the operation and management of MACS school, Our Lady of Fatima. This is the board level.

Clear lines of authority, reporting and delegation from the MACS Board through the MACS Executive Director delegate the day to day operational management of Our Lady of Fatima to its principal.

In keeping with the objects of the MACS Constitution, which states “The good work of educating the young, undertaken in the light of the Gospel, is a co-responsible task led by every member of the Catholic school community”, the School Advisory Council provides a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders. While the School Advisory Council does not have governance responsibility or decision-making authority, it supports the principal in a positive way and supports school leadership in a positive way and provides an important connection to the parish.

It is not a governing body but its role is to support the overall governance of the system as it “is to give consideration to, and advice on, important school matters in order to support the principal and the strategic interest of the school.” (Working Together in Mission p.11)

Staffing Update

It is with a heavy heart that I inform the community of our Lady of Fatima that our lovely Dimity Hemingway will be leaving us at the end of the 2021 school year. Dimity has accepted an exciting new position as Wellbeing teacher at St Jude's Langwarrin where she will be setting up the St Jude's Wellbeing Hub. It is no surprise to anyone at Fatima that Dimity's specialised skill set and empathetic and caring attributes are highly sought after qualities in any school. Dimity will be very missed at Fatima especially her deep knowledge of our families and the individual needs of our students. Dimity has been an enormous support to me in my transition to Principal of Fatima. The process for finding a replacement for our own Wellbeing Hub and the position of Leader of Learning Inclusion, Engagement and Wellbeing has commenced. I want to personally thank Dimity for making my transition to Fatima so seamless by mentoring and guiding me to know our families so well. We look forward to celebrating Dimity and all of her achievements at Fatima at the end of the year.
