From the Deputy Principal

World Teachers' Day

On Friday this week we celebrate World Teachers' Day.  Here at GSG we like to extend this beyond teachers and celebrate all the staff who make our school such a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow.  I like to think that anyone working in a school is an educator, in that each person plays a critical role in making our school a special place to be.  There's the old cliche, "it takes a village to raise a child" but I think this is particularly apt in the context of our school as a village that supports and nurtures children.

The Australian Institute for Teachers and School Leaders (AITSL) is encouraging us all to celebrate the bright future of teaching and thank Australia’s teachers.  You can post a photo in your sunglasses on Twitter or Facebook on the day using #BrightFuture and @aitsl.  Click here for more information.

Athletics Carnivals

We are very much looking forward to our Athletics Carnivals later this week, after the delay earlier in the term. Please ensure you have your House sports uniforms ready to go, and hopefully we will need plenty of sunscreen on those days!  The Junior School Athletics Carnival is on Thursday 4 November and Years Seven to Ten Athletics Carnival is on Friday 5 November.
