Term 1

Welcome back to all of our returning families and a special welcome to families who are new to Concord. The school year has kicked off with a few additional hurdles this year, however our amazing team and students have been extremely resilient and understanding as we navigate our school returning back to normal. Classes have been very settled in their new spaces and our Secondary 9/10 classes have been extremely flexible in sharing spaces while three of their classrooms are out of action. Classes across the school have spent the first few weeks getting to know each other and setting up processes within their classrooms and sections. Our specialist program commenced this week with classes meeting their specialist teachers and being introduced to the programs they will experience in Term 1.

Information Sessions

Last night we held our inaugural Information Sessions. Thank you to the many families who attended and enjoyed a sausage at our Welcome BBQ which proceeded the Information Sessions. As you can see from the photos we had quite a turn out with lots of families attending to find out about 2020. Our classroom teachers are looking forward to meeting individually with families on Feb 18th to learn about your child. Please make sure you book your time when bookings become live on Compass next week.

Supporting Literacy at Home

I know as a parent I tend to default to asking my children how their day was at school to which they usually respond with ‘good’. To try and support them in providing a more detailed response, perhaps a full sentence rather than one word, the following questions might be helpful…

What was the best thing that happened today?

What made you laugh today?

How did you help someone today?

How did someone help you today?

Supporting Numeracy at Home

Maths surrounds us every day. Help you child notice the maths that occurs at home; clocks showing the time, numbers on packaging, using money at the shops etc.
