Sunscreen is no suit of armour!

Sun protection is required in Victoria until the end of April, however sunscreen is not the first thing you should use! Protecting skin from direct sun exposure with covering clothing, shade, and a broad brimmed hat is the most effective form of sun protection, leaving sunscreen for those areas of skin that can't otherwise be covered.

No sunscreen provides 100% UV protection, therefore, it should be the last line of defence and used in combination with other sun protection measures. For sunscreen application tips, visit the SunSmart website or check out the video on How to apply sunscreen located on the website.

Remember: don't be fooled by cool, cloudy weather! UV rises to skin damaging levels in Victoria, which means it's time to bring out the sun protection measures again - covering clothing, SPF30 (or higher) sunscreen, a broad-brimmed hat, shade and sunglasses.
