Senior School House Cross Country

Ben Bishop, Head of Sport

It was a warm sunny spring afternoon back at our old House Cross Country course at EE Gunn Reserve for our annual House event on September 5.

Running the 3km course can be challenging, and students were asked to challenge themselves and set their own individual goals.

Students demonstrated tremendous character and resilience in obtaining these goals, whether it was running continuously for 3km, running one full 1km loop before stopping and walking and going again, or qualifying for the EISM Cross Country team. It is always a proud moment to see students putting in their best effort.

All Schools Nitro Athletics

On the 13 September, 25 Kilvington students gathered at Lakeside Park for the inaugural running of the Nitro Athletics Schools Competition.

Loosely based on Usain Bolt’s initiative last year, all the top athletic schools in Victoria compete against each other in both traditional and more innovative athletic events.

Kilvington entered five teams in the Competition, with all students doing themselves and the School proud. Special mention must go to Gemma Craddock of Year 8, who finished first in her Javelin event with a throw of 33.87m - the best this season. Well done to all competitors.

Year 7 Girls Gala Day

On 14 September, 10 Year 7 girls competed in the inaugural EISM Girls Year 7 Cricket Gala Day.

The girls had been practising on a Tuesday lunchtime for the previous four weeks, so were eager and ready for the challenges that lay ahead. Despite finishing in 6th place, the girls had a great time, with many of playing for the first time!

For anyone interested in participating in cricket outside of School, our younger (5 - 10 YO) students may be interested in the Woolworths Cricket Blast - a fun and fast program for kids of all abilities.

Older students may be interested in joining a junior team in one of our many local clubs which feature new action packed junior formats with an all-girls competition also available.
