Junior School Production – The Lion King Jr
Congratulations to the Years 5 and 6 students who performed so enthusiastically and passionately in the Years 5/6 Production.
Audiences were thoroughly entertained by our talented students. Dalton Hall came alive to the wonderful characters of Rafiki, Mufasa, Zazu, Nala, Simba, Timon and Pumbaa and many more colourful characters.
Congratulations to all students and a special thanks to Directors, Ms Fiona Radford and Ms Melissa Gregory. We also wish to acknowledge the staff and stage crew who did all the wonderful work behind the scenes.
Friday Afternoon Soirées
On Friday September 14, we held another very successful Friday afternoon soiree with approximately 60-70 in attendance and over 35 performers.
Congratulations to all the students who showcased a wide variety of performances on piano, violin, trumpet and clarinet, as well as speech and drama items (solos, duos and ensembles).
Prep to Year 12 String Concert
The Prep-Year 12 String Concert was held in Dalton Hall on September 11. All string ensembles performed to an audience of family and friends.
Prelude Strings Sailed Home in a tall ship, after which they Rode their Bikes with an up-tempo beat. Intermezzo Strings travelled on Camels across the Sahara and Chamber Strings danced a lively Celtic Jigg On the Road to County Derry in the Highlands of Scotland. The Lee String Trio, Arioso String Quartet and Dolce String Quartet all played an Eastern European dance.
In between these 'travels' over the world, soloists performed, ranging from Prep students to Year 11 students representing each instrument of the string family: violin, viola, cello and double bass. This entertaining evening ended with all string players on stage in a massed item, playing a slow blues tune, Bilge Rat Blues.
Congratulations to all of our string students on a fantastic night of entertainment.
VCE Music Recital
On Wednesday 19 September, the Unit 4 VCE music recital was held to a supportive audience of family, friends, staff and Unit 2 VCE music students.
In this recital, students performed their repertoire of works which is around 25 minutes worth of playing.
Ashleigh McMaster on oboe was joined by our partnership school, Mentone Girls Grammar. All students were incredibly well prepared and performed a range of contrasting works demonstrating the complexities of their instruments with polished and skilful performances.
All students will present their works to external examiners early Term 4. We wish Ashleigh all the best with her performance exam.
