Arriving to class on time

At Staughton College, we strongly value students arriving to school and classes on time which assists them in keeping their attendance above 90% as per our school policy.

Lateness to school and class has been proven to have a detrimental impact on learning for both students who arrive late, and students impacted by the lateness of others.

To instil routines of arriving to classes on time, Staughton Colleges runs ‘Lateness Sweeps’ which occur several times a week and at different periods throughout the day. Students who are caught in a lateness sweep will sit a detention, which is used as an educational opportunity, reiterating the importance of being on time.

Parents/Guardians will be contacted via SMS should their child be caught in a lateness sweep. Staughton College values the support that parents provide and seek this support in speaking to their child about the importance of arriving on time.

Students who continue to arrive late to classes will be issued with further consequences.

Thanks for your ongoing support,
