Library Borrowing

It has been great to see so many smiling faces coming into the library this term!  While we are in this period of transitioning back to full time schooling, don’t forget that any day you come to school you can bring your library bag to return and borrow books.  It does not have to be your class borrowing day, and you can borrow as often as you like!

THE BOOKS AND I HAVE REALLY MISSED YOU!

Books that are being returned will continue to be ‘quarantined’ for 24 hours and thoroughly cleaned before they are put back on the shelf.

National Simultaneous Storytime

On Wednesday 27th May our K-2 students took part in the National Simultaneous Storytime.

It is an initiative held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.

This year's book was “Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas” by Lucinda Gifford.  Students had a fabulous time listening to the story as well as taking part in activities related to the story.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Even though we have had quite an unusual first half of the year, the Premier's Reading Challenge is still happening!  If your child/ren have forgotten their login details please don't hesitate to email me (bbremner@arm.catholic.edu.au) and I can send them through to you, likewise, if your child needs help entering the books I am more than happy to assist them before school or at lunchtime every day.

The Premier's Reading Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.  The Premier's Reading Challenge is open for all students from K-Year 9 and closes on Friday 28 August.  Years 3-9 only need to read 20 books.  Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students will complete the challenge with their classroom teacher through the books that are read to them on a daily basis.

For further information please go to https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html where you should be able to find the answers to any questions you may have.  The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge book lists open doors to a rich collection of children’s literature representing a range of books including fiction, non-fiction, picture books, poetry and drama, and include a wide variety of Australian authors.
