Punctuality – it matters

There are times when it is unavoidable for a student to arrive late for school – a traffic accident, or an appointment, for example.

But, we are finding that, in most cases of lateness, there is no reasonable excuse: sleeping in, miss the bus or train, waiting for someone to take them to school.

Punctuality matters!

  • It is an important skill for life, especially in the workplace
  • It shows respect for other people’s time and work
  • It helps students to make the most of their learning time.

We need your help!

If you know that your child is late to school more often than they should be, please have a think about what you as a parent and as a family can do to stop this becoming a bad habit.

  • Set alarms
  • Provide consequences at home, as we do at school
  • Reward your child when they improve their punctuality.
  • Leave home with plenty of time to allow for traffic.
  • Drop your child off no later than 8:45am
  • Have copies of bus or train timetables handy
  • Cal us if you need support to get your son or daughter to school on time.

Thank you for supporting us to have every student in class learning at 8:55am each day.

Transition

Year 6 into Year 7 transition is gaining pace. Our annual wellbeing program, ‘The Big Day In’ was held on Thursday 24 October. This is an opportunity for students who will be attending the College in 2020 in Year 7 to make friends and meet our wellbeing team. On Monday 28 October the Year 7 Welcome Evening will be held for parents on Year 7 students in 2020.

Exams

Exams period is upon us. We wish the Year 12 students all the best with their exams commencing next week. Year 11 exams commence on Monday 4 November, Year 10 exams on Thursday 21 November, and Year 9 Semester Tests on Monday 18 November. Students should be beginning their preparation for these assessments, and ensure they work with their classroom teachers to be fully aware of expectations. Any students who needs support during this time should see their classroom teachers, coordinator or the Wellbeing team as needed.
