Victorian Teacher's Games

St Albans Secondary Teacher's Participation

SASC had a crack team of elite athletes at the Victorian Teacher's Games, held in Geelong in the first week of the September holidays.

First competitor was Mark Micallef, who was gunning for his 10th consecutive Gold Medal in the Cycling Road Race. Attacking at the start, Mark made a success of his solo breakaway, winning not only his 50+ age group but the Overall Classification as well, finishing 2 minutes 26 ahead of second place and taking home the Gold. Mark also had a go at the Rifle Target Shooting, placing 4th on the day.

Next off was the Dodgeball team, who worked their way through the rounds to make it to the pointy end of competition; the mixed team of Stevie Vo, Dane Stammers, Ebony Kemeridis, Lauren Morrison, Chloe Marie, Emi Narasaki, Seijiro Nishioka, Jennifer and Simone Papagianopoulos and Melrose Tran made it to the finals, smashing out 3rd place and earning their Bronze Medals.

Straight after the finals, the already fatigued Beach Volleyball team of Stevie Vo, Dane Stammers, Ebony Kemeridis, Mark Micallef, Chloe Marie, Seijiro Nishioka, Jennifer and Simone Papagianopoulos and Melrose Tran played 4 games and managed to take the coveted 'Wooden Spoon' for last place; a fun but exhausting day.

Special thanks to Stevie Vo who organized the accommodation, and for all members of the SASC VTG Team for the great camaraderie, friendship and fun that was had by all!
