Junior Debating

Junior Debators

Our Junior team Debater's recently completed their final DAV (Debater's Association of Victoria) debates which comprised training sessions run by DAV, followed by debates against opposing teams.

Our six teams of Year 7 and 8 students met regularly and attended three Rounds of Debates against Braybrook College; Springside West Secondary College and Australian International Academy. They debated: 'That we should ban junk food in schools'; 'That we should value literature more than science' and 'That we should restrict the drivers licences of senior citizens'.

All teams achieved at least one win. In their final round, a number of our teams were complimented by adjudicators for the high skill level achieved across the key areas of Matter, Method and Manner.

Our intrepid teams will continue to meet for the remainder of the year to further develop their skills. They will promote the sport of debating to other students considering joining the debating team in 2020.
