Senior School Report

At this time in the school year, we are leading up to final examinations for our Year 11 and Year 12 students. We hosted our Annual Year 12 Awards Evening at The Valley (formerly known as Moonee Valley Race Course) on Tuesday 15 October, and Year 12 classes finished on Tuesday, 22 October, with the Whole School assembly to farewell the Year 12 being held on Wednesday 23 October.

The Year 11 students have their final assembly on Monday, 28 October during periods 5 & 6.

Last day of classes for Year 11 students is Friday 1 November. VCE exams start Monday 4 November and VCAL work placement starts Wednesday 6 November.

Year 12 VCE students did their ‘September Exams’ during the second week of the school holidays. Students got a ‘taste’ of where they are at with their studying and what sort of preparation is ahead of them leading up to the final exams.

On Wednesday, 16 October and Friday 18 October, the Year 12 VCAL students had their interviews where they show cased their folios for the time they were in the VCAL program. They discussed with the panel members the skills, knowledge and experience they gained in the program and what they plan to do in 2020.

Year 11 VCAL students will display their projects for ‘CHASE’ on Wednesday 30 October. Groups will give a power point presentation and speak of the project benefits to the community group targeted. Students will continue to work with their CHASE mentors up until their presentations are done.

Our 2019 Awards Evening proved again to be a sensational event, with a full house of students, their families, friends and their teachers, coming together in a joyous celebration of the college culture of success and life-long learning. Our Guest Speaker was Simela Karasavidis, a former student of St Albans Secondary College. She is a consultant for Pinsent Masons. Pinsent Masons is an International Law firm which specialises in energy, infrastructure, financial services, real estate and advanced manufacturing and technology sectors.

She delivered a motivation speech that resinated not only with the students, but with staff and guests that were present.  It was an honour to have her address our school community.

The school captains Habiba HABIB and Daniel SAN JOSE and one of our International students Sylvia PHAM spoke on behalf of their peers about their journeys, memories and time at St Albans SC.

Our Year 12 students completed their high school education at St Albans SC by celebrating their last day with their peers and teachers.  The morning started with a whole school assembly, where students paraded in front of the whole school in their ‘fancy dress’ outfits. The Year 11 SRC representatives wished them all the best during the assembly.  They then finalised their celebrations with some activities and a BBQ lunch.

The Senior Sub School wished them all the best on whatever their endeavours might be.
