Principal's Report

CORONAVIRUS

Thanks again to everyone for your support and patience as we navigate unprecedented circumstances in our schools and the broader community.  We certainly feel for the many people who are being impacted in significant ways.  We’re making sure life at school is calm and settled.  Apart from some changes to the routine and the cancellation of events, everything is feeling very normal at school.

Dealing with Coronavirus is a day to day prospect in our schools at the moment and we’ll keep updating you through messages via the Compass app.  As mentioned in yesterday’s update, it’s unknown whether the government will decide to close state schools.  We’ll keep you posted and hope to be able to give you plenty of notice if this occurs.

At times like this, it’s useful to listen to advice on how to talk through such issues with our children.  Attached is an article from the Australian Psychological Society which provides tips for coping with Coronavirus anxiety. The article includes tips for talking with children about the Coronavirus.

Please give us a call if you have a coronavirus related issue that potentially impacts on the school that we should know about.  Likewise, if you just have questions or concerns, please contact us.

Grade 4 Camp

Last week our grade 4s had their Anglesea Camp.  The camp provides a perfect opportunity for students to try new things and challenge themselves and staff and parents were certainly impressed with the willingness of the students to give everything a go.  Overall the attitude shown by the students was great, which was pleasing.  Well done to the staff who were very well prepared and to our parent helpers who did a great job in supporting the kids along the way.

School Council

We still have 2 parent positions to fill on School Council and it would be great to fill at least one of those with a parent from Scotsburn.  If you are interested in taking up a position on School Council, please give me a call.
