A Look at Learning

Learning Goals!

Since our return to school,  students  have been establishing their learning goals for reading and writing!

Learning goals are an important part of our day and work in partnership with guided reading and guided writing sessions.

Learning goals are devised using the SMART template and in collaboration with students and teachers. Goals are based on data that is collected in the classroom.

SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable and Time bound.

To make sure that student goals are clear and reachable, each one is:

Specific - simple, sensible and significant

Measurable - meaningful and motivating

Achievable - agreed and attainable

Relevant - reasonable, realistic and results based

Time Bound - time limited, time based and timely

Learning Goals are brought to guided reading sessions with an adult and feedback is given to students on their goal progression. During writing sessions students collect their goals from the wall and place them on their tables to ensure they are keeping on track for success.
