Student Attendance

What if my child has to stay away from school?

If your child has to be absent from school, you must inform the school and provide a reason for your child's absence.

A small number of absences may be accepted by the Principal. For example, if your child has to

  • Attend a special religious ceremony
  • Is required to attend to a serious and/or urgent family situation (e.g: a funeral)
  • Is too sick to go to school or has an infectious illness.

How can you provide a reason for absence?

There are a number of options available to notify the school:

Is your child too sick for school?

Knowing whether your child is well enough to attend school can be tough for any parent. Please see the attached flyer for our schools updated COVID-19 guidelines.

COVID-19 Updated Guidelines

  • Students should not attend school if unwell, even with mild symptoms of COVID-19. Any person with any COVID-19 symptoms should be sent home and should not return until they have received a negative test result and are symptom-free. In circumstances where children have other medical reasons for recurrent symptoms a letter from their GP is sufficient to negate the requirement for a negative test.

Parents should:

  • maintain physical distancing by avoiding gathering outside of school gates
  • remain outside of school grounds
  • All students, staff and visitors at school should wash their hands regularly and/or use hand sanitizer throughout the day and avoid physical contact in greetings (such as shaking hands and hugging)
