Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time!
On the 22nd of Feburary, the year 11 and year 12 students studying unit 3/4 theatre studies had the unique opportunity to attend the student forum night for the production of "The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night Time”, which has won countless awards, including 5 Tonys and 7 Olivier Awards. The play follows the ‘curious incident’ of the murder of a neighbour's dog that is then investigated by character Christopher Boone. Throughout his investigation, his relationships with his parents and school mentor, Siobhan are explored, and progressively, the narrative takes many twists and turns to become a journey to find self truth and discovery. Sam Newton stunned the audience of students with a raw and fascinating take on the character of Christopher Boone. The play saw that each individual was moved to the edge of their seat, in fits of laughter, or moved to tears. The students were astounded by the unbelievable attention to detail in the play and the way Christopher's world was transported onto the stage in front of their very eyes. The students were lucky to take part in a technical insight talk before watching the performance and ended the day with a post production q+a with the director and cast which helped them gained knowledge for their end of year exam. Overall the day was successful and the students took away valuable lessons taught through the play.
