Assistant Principal News

Dear Parents,

This week we were joined by Year 6 students from our feeder schools St Mary’s and St Patrick’s as well as students from numerous other primary schools for their second Transition day. The students undertook classes in English, Music, Art and Drama while sharing morning tea together to socialise and meet their peers from other schools. We look forward to our next Transaction session next term.

Staff are also currently working diligently to complete Semester 1 Reports for Years 7-10. The reports will be completed, proofread and edited and released to parents and students on Thursday Week 10 24th June.

Teachers will report on the following:

  • Commitment to Learning
  • Commendations and Recommendations
  • Semester Grade

These criteria will help identify how the students approach their learning, their knowledge, understanding and application of skills and learning, what they have done well and what they need to improve and how they can do this.

Please remember the Semester Grade allocated is NOT simply based on the formal student assessment tasks. Student grades are determined by mapping students against the Common Grade Scale based on class work, formative learning, understanding and application.

Finally please note that the first day of Term 3 (12th July) will be a Staff Professional Learning Day. Staff will engage in professional learning on Literacy and Numeracy, learning strategies and embedding these into their programs. The sessions will be run by our Literacy Instructional Teacher Angela Morris, who will focus on writing and the Numeracy Team who will focus on Numeracy Strategies.

I look forward to sharing some of the exciting learning from the day with you.

Yours in Learning,

Lora Segrave and Damien Herb
