Year 9s, raising money and awareness

9F Philanthropic Project
For our philanthropic project this year we raised money and awareness for the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASCA).
NASCA works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to create a strength-based, culturally strong environment that ultimately results in Indigenous Australians realising a level of health and prosperity on par with other Australians.
They address the root causes of inequality, and use their Aboriginal knowledge and expertise to ensure young people stay strong in their culture and identity and are resilient in combating the structural and systemic bias and racism prevalent in Australia today.
They are run entirely by aboriginal people and run a series of sport and mentoring programs.
In September our class held a joint bake-sale and sausage sizzle which raised a total of $615.85 which is enough to support two aboriginal children graduating high school with some to spare. Thank you to all the parents that supported us to make the food and to students who supported us by making a purchase on the day.
