Students Strike for CLIMATE ACTION
On Friday the 30th of November thousands of students from around Victoria went on strike from school to demand political action on climate change.
This action followed similar student-led actions from around Australia, such as Hobart, Sydney, Canberra and Perth.
Harriet O’Shea Carre, a 14-year-old student from Castlemaine said:
We have to sacrifice our education, which is something we really value, so we’re
showing them that at the moment this is even more important than our education.
The school Strike for climate movement was sparked by the 15-year-old Swedish student Greta Thunberg, who pledged to protest outside Stockholm parliament until the country caught up on the Paris Climate Agreements and began treating climate change as a climate crisis.
Students across the world are planning to continue striking and events like this are likely to continue until countries start acting on climate change in a way that will ensure a safe and sustainable future for all.
Northcote student and Green Team leader Marco Bellemo featured on the ABC's Q&A this week, discussing climate (in)action and the impact on youth. Congratulations Marco!

The exhibition will open on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 06:30 PM and will remain open till January the 6th, 2019, at The Australian Catholic University Gallery, 26 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.
