Principal's News

Dear Families,

Here we go again….. COVID 4.0. At this stage we are now in lockdown for a further 7 days so we will not be back at school until Friday 11th June.

Online remote learning started yesterday and I have to say thank you for your patience and understanding in this space. I am very proud of our staff who have worked very quickly to move from planning for onsite to online learning.

Prayers

Can we please keep Belinda Wendt and her family  in our thoughts and prayers. Her father passed away on the weekend.

Contact with teachers and office

Please make sure your first point of contact for any questions or queries about your  child/ren is the classroom teacher. Please email them directly - their contact details are in the newsletter each week.  If you would like to speak to your child’s teacher please ring and make an appointment to see them.

Any queries regarding concerns outside the classroom can be emailed to:

office@sbmord.catholic.edu.au

Any queries regarding fees or financial issues please email

finance@sbmord.catholic.edu.au

Any other queries that need to be directed to me please email

principal@sbmord.catholic.edu.au or wsullivan@sbmord.catholic.edu.au

Sending emails to Tracey or Michele’s email address’ can at times led to delays in getting the messages to the teachers, which can cause some miscommunication and anxiety for both parents and teachers.

Language Survey

Thank you to all parents who completed the Language Other Than EnglisH (LOTE) survey that was sent out 2 weeks ago.  Below are the responses to the questions:

From the survey Italian seems to be the language of choice from the  St Brigid’s community.

We will start advertising for a LOTE teacher to hopefully start Term 3. Please be aware that LOTE teachers can be difficult to find no matter the language and if I cannot get one to start Term 3, please be reassured that Trisha Beamish who has been teaching Korean this term will continue on in Term 3 or until we can get an Italian teacher. We do value and appreciate your input into St Brigid’s and where possible we will seek your feedback, but I hope you understand that this is not always possible due to educational system requirements.

Family Conferences - Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 June

Our Semester 2 Family Conferences are scheduled to take place on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 19 June.  The purpose of our Family Conferences is to encourage positive, productive dialogue inolving parents, students and teachers.  The conferences also encourage students to take responsibility for their learning and behaviour management and to set achievable goals for the future.  We look forward to your participation in these conferences.  Each conference will run for approximately 15 minutes.  Approximately 10 minutes is spent with the parent, child and teacher and then the last 5 minutes is available for the parent and teacher.

We have allowed bookings for both Onsite and Zoom Family Conferences.   Families at this stage have a choice.  However, given the Victorian Government restrictions currently in place, if Families are not allowed on site on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 of June ALL Family Conferences will then revert to a Zoom meeting.

Bookings are now open and will close on Friday 11 June.  Our specialist teachers will also be availableon Tuesday 15th of June.  Just a reminder that the specialist teachers your child has had Semester 1 are listed below (Please do not book a time with a specialist teacher if your child has not had a class with them this Semester):

Some Happy News

A Big PINK Congratulations to Michelle, Joe, Islah and Zara on the safe arrival of the beautiful Emily Rose McArdle on Wednesday 26th May weighing 3.195kg.  Sadly the McArdle's are moving to Queensland on the weekend so I would also like to take this opportunity to wish them well.  We will miss you all!
