Thank you so much to all of the families that visited our Book Fair. It was fantastic to see so many children happily book browsing and excited with their new purchases! Even though we weren’t able to run the Book Fair during our postponed Open Night, we still managed to make nearly $5000 in book sales! This wonderful result means that Kalinda has been able to choose $1451 of new books for our school library from Lamont Books. Stay tuned for photos when they arrive!

Thank you to the teachers who manned the stall before and after school, and also to the families who purchased a book to be donated to the library. Your generosity is very much appreciated!

Colouring competition

Thank you to all the students who entered the Book Fair colouring competition. Wendy created a fantastic display and has busily been judging the entries. Winners will be announced at assembly this week.

ICAS 

We are delighted to inform you that Kalinda will again be participating in the world-renowned ICAS AssessmentsTM this year. ICAS is designed to target students’ higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills in a range of subjects. This year we are offering the opportunity for students to sit the Mathematics assessment, and for the first time, we are also offering the Writing assessment for all of our budding authors! These assessments are available for students from Grade 2 to Grade 6 for Maths and Grade 3 to Grade 6 for Writing.

Each assessment celebrates students’ accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition and development. Every student will receive a printed certificate and an online results report. Top performers will be eligible for medals and are invited to attend special award ceremonies to have their academic excellence publicly recognised. 

We encourage you to consider entering your child into ICAS this year. The assessments are suitable for students wishing to extend themselves academically and take up the personal challenge of competing in an international assessment, that has been running for 40 years. Your child will be presented with high-quality, expert-developed questions, allowing them to apply their learning without the need for prior study or revision.

The dates for the assessments are as follows:

Writing: Tuesday 10th August

Mathematics: Tuesday 31st August

If you would like your child to participate in one or both of the assessments, please visit the ICAS shop to register and pay at the link below. 

Please note, payments cannot be made through the school office or through Compass.

The cost of the Writing test is $21.45 (inc GST) – payments close 25th July

The cost of the Mathematics test is $17.05 (inc GST) – payments close 15th August
